Mallory crew-chiefing for Gustin in '25
Veteran crewman Cody Mallory has been tapped as Ryan Gustin’s new crew chief at Todd Cooney Racing for the 2025 season, the Iowa-based team announced today. In corresponding news, Gustin’s 2024 crew chief Tim Douglas moves over to Infinity Chassis to become a representative of the Hazard, Ky., chassis business, the California native told DirtonDirt.com at Saturday’s Wild West Shootout at Vado (N.M.) Speedway Park.
Mallory, who’s worked for Bobby Pierce, Garrett Smith, the Rocket Chassis house car program, and Scott Bloomquist, among others, in recent seasons, will campaign on the World of Outlaws Late Model Series with Gustin this season.
“As we set our sights on a World of Outlaws Late Model Series championship, we are confident that Cody's wealth of knowledge and experience will be invaluable in helping us reach our goals,” the team said in a statement. “We are excited to have him on board and look forward to a successful season ahead.”
The 34-year-old Gustin posted five WoO victories, 19 top-fives, and 25 top-10s in a sixth-place finish on the World of Outlaws with Douglas as crew chief in 2024. Douglas won WoO's Crew Chief of the Year for those efforts, bolstering his credentials that include past stops with Dillon McCowan (crew chief in 2023), Jason Papich, Earl Pearson Jr., and Tony Toste.
Douglas’s new role at Infinity, the chassis launched by Wells Motorsports last season, will see him provide clients with hands-on assistance at the track in 2025.
