Attica's Iron-Man race honors Wagner
May 2's Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series event at Attica (Ohio) Raceway Park has been dubbed the Stephen Wagner Memorial, honoring the former owner of the No. 49 Late Model and a longtime race fan and supporter.
The Fremont, Ohio, resident who died April 3 at 75 owned a Late Model that Larry Scott drove in the 1992 World 100 as well as 1986-87 Johnny Appleseed Classic victories at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. Wagner also did excavation work amid resurfacing projects last year at Attica and Fremont Speedway.
For the $5,049-to-win Iron-Man event, Wagner's family will add $49 to each finishing position. Additionally non-qualifiers will receive $49 on top of the standard $75 tow money. The night’s action will include an Australian Pursuit race among the six fastest qualifiers paying $1,049-to-win.
