Zach Sise gets rolling ahead of his Topless Outlaws victory.
What won the race: Inheriting the lead when majority pacesetter Chase King crashed in turn four on the 37th lap, ninth-starting Zach Sise of Knoxville, Tenn., led the final four circuits to win Saturday's $4,000 Jail Breaker Potato Chips Topless Outlaws Late Model Series stop at Tri-County Racetrack. Sise held off Barrett Lowe on the four-lap dash, beating him by 0.261 of a second for his second straight Topless Outlaws victory and fourth major event triumph this season.
Quotable: “I need to thank the good Lord above for making this all possible man, nothing in life would be without Him. Second, I need to give (car owner) Roger (Dickson) an awesome ‘thank you’ for giving me this opportunity,” Sise said. “We’ve had a blast this year and I think we just keep getting in our rhythm. We kinda all screwed up qualifying between (the team) and really got us behind, but we got ‘er tuned in for the race and picked up the whip and went with it.”
Key notes: Sise extended his points lead in securing his second series victory in 16 days after earning $4,090 July 11 at Tennessee's Golden Mountain Speedway. ... Sise also has American All-Star Crate victories at Golden Mountain ($3,000 on May 9) and Kentucky's Lake Cumberland Speedway ($4,000 on July 5). ... Chase King led 35 of the opening 36 laps from the pole before hopping the turn-four cushion and climbing the wall with his right-front tire, nosing into the catchfence before his car was thrown back perpendicular on the frontstretch. ... Series officials immediately threw the second red flag of the night; King was OK but could not continue and was credited with 12th. ... Barrett Lowe stuck primarily to the bottom and nipped King by 0.062 of a second to lead the 30th lap. Lowe looked inside Sise on the late-race restart, but could not nose ahead. ... The first red flag flew on the opening lap when fifth-starting Tucker Anderson spun in turn four, eliminating Booger Brooks, Dante Curtis and Daven Dilbeck. Kyle Coutney was involved and rallied to seventh without a right-front nosepiece. ... Rucker Orr spun in turn two on a lap-37 restart attempt for the race's fourth and final caution; he continued to finish 10th, the final starter to complete 40 laps. ... The race lasted 30 minutes. ... Landen Zakalowski scratched after trouble in the first heat race.
