What won the race: Outside front-row starter Chad Thrash of Meridian, Miss., led all 40 laps at Whynot Motorsports Park, earning $3,000 and back-to-back wins on the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series. Thrash, the reigning tour champ, beat David Breazeale by 1.301 seconds for his 27th career MSCCS victory.
Key notes: Thrash's last series win was July 5 at Super Bee Speedway in Chatham, La., worth $5,000. ... Eighteenth-starting David Breazeale worked his way to the top five by a lap-27 restart, then grabbed second from Hunter Lewis as they raced towards the white flag. ... Eleventh-starting Ryan Wilson took third from Lewis on the final lap, leaving Lewis in fourth. ... Points leader Brandon Carpenter advanced seven positions and completed the top-five finishers. ... Neil Baggett retired from fourth after 30 laps and was credited with 11th. ... Rick Rickman slowed from second for the race's second and final caution on lap 27. He finished 12th. ... Polesitter Brian Rickman, Rick's younger brother, slid to third before a lap-four incident eliminated Chase Williams and himself. ... The main event lasted 22 minutes, with seven starters completing 40 laps. ... Billy Franklin scratched after time trials. ... Nick Thrash (604) and Chace Pennington (602) won Crate Late Model features.
