What won the race: Mason Zeigler of Chalk Hill, Pa., held off early challenges from Jakob Piper then ran away after a late-race restart, leading all 30 laps in winning Saturday's $5,000 Night of Power at Path Valley Speedway. Zeigler beat Ryan Montgomery to the checkers by 1.616 seconds for his third Jay's Automotive United Late Model Series victory of the season and sixth of his career.
Quotable: “I love this little place. I mean it’s our own little Fairbury. You know, we don’t have racetracks like this around here,” Zeigler said. “We came out here and (the surface) was slick, nothing to lean on, but there was momentum up top. I was way too free. As soon as we got going I was like ‘oh no, I messed up bad’ and luckily we were able to hang on there.”
Key notes: Zeigler secured his sixth overall feature victory of the season. ... Jakob Piper challenged Zeigler in the early going until fading to finish seventh. Zeigler sped away in the final 11 laps after a lap-20 caution for Logan Zarin's spin. ... Brock Pinkerous challenged Ryan Montgomery after the late-race restart, nipping him for second on the 21st lap until Montgomery regained control and pulled away. ... Rick Eckert passed Piper for fourth on lap 22. ... Zarin rebounded to sixth after his lap-20 spin that triggered the race's lone caution. ... Ross Robinson improved four spots to salvage an 11th-place finish. ... Sixth-starting Gregg Satterlee, who sought victory in his fourth straight start, faded to 12th at the checkers. ... Cayden Ranck placed 14th, the final starter to complete 30 laps. ... The race, rain-postponed from Friday and replacing a rainout at Latrobe (Pa.) Speedway, lasted 10 minutes with 16 starters running at the finish. ... Kenny Yoder pulled off on lap 20 as the lone retiree.
On the move: Tyler Hershey of Mercersburg, Pa., started eighth and finished fifth.
