What won the race: Overcoming race-long pacesetter Brian Shirley for the lead on lap 33, Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., raced to his third consecutive World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series victory in Friday night’s 40-lap feature at Arrowhead Speedway. The tour points leader beat Shirley to the finish line by 2.026 seconds for the $12,000 winner’s check in the opener of the Sooner State Showdown.
Quotable: “It’s awesome to be here in Oklahoma and get the win,” Pierce said. “I was really looking forward to this track, been looking forward to it for a long time now. Just never knowing how a track’s going to race, a lot of times it comes to you quickly, but we definitely needed the laps last night. This track’s a little tricky in certain spots and we just had to learn it, had to make a notebook. We changed the setup quite a bit there before the feature. I wasn’t really happy with it after the heat race and it was a lot better.”
Key notes: Pierce’s 10th WoO triumph of 2025 and 41st of his career came in the first-ever WoO event at Arrowhead. Oklahoma became the 14th different state in which Pierce has won on the circuit. … Shirley, who led the opening 32 laps, was a runner-up to Pierce for the second straight WoO feature; he was nipped by Pierce for Aug. 16’s checkered flag at Maquoketa (Iowa) Speedway. … Tim McCreadie snatched third on lap 34 when Tristan Chamberlain slapped the wall off turn four. … Nick Hoffman advanced from the eighth starting spot to finish fourth. … After winning his first-ever WoO heat earlier in the night, the teenage Chamberlain scored a season-best WoO finish of fifth after running second for laps 4-20. … The race’s lone caution flag was displayed on lap 35 when Ryan Gustin slowed with a blown right-rear tire. ... On-track action began around 9 p.m. local time after a power outage caused a near 90-minute delay, but the feature was completed at 11:12. ... After the weekend began Thursday with a Comp Cams Super Dirt Series-sanctioned event won by Hoffman, the Comp Cams tour co-sanctions the WoO doubleheader that concludes with Saturday's 60-lap, $20,000-to-win feature.
On the move: Dustin Sorensen of Rochester, Minn., started 21st and finished 13th.
