What won the race: Driving under Tim McCreadie on the fourth lap, polesitter Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., took command early Saturday and marched to a $20,000 victory in the Sooner State Showdown finale at Arrowhead Speedway. Pierce won for the second night in a row in action co-sanctioned by the World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series and Comp Cams Super Dirt Series. McCreadie, who started outside the front row and led the first three laps, fell from contention with a lap-43 flat tire and Nick Hoffman ended up as the runner-up, 1.640 seconds behind Pierce.
Quotable: "It felt great there, you know, I'm just sitting here thinking, looking at the track, its a lot like a track I grew up racing a lot of laps on, which is Tri-City, the old Tri-City anyways," Pierce said. "It would get just like that, how it have lots of stripy spots and one lap you kind of push the next lap you slide. You just got to hit it right and it gets up there to the wall."
Key notes: Bobby Pierce notched his 11th WoO victory of the season and fourth in a row. ... Pierce's 42nd career WoO victory ties him for fifth on the all-time WoO list with Hall of Famer Billy Moyer. ... Pierce survived a turn-two scare amid traffic with 10 laps remaining as he tried to get past Chase Junghans. ... Tim McCreadie, who led the first three laps and ran second through lap 42, drew the second of two cautions when he slowed with a flat right-rear tire. ... The only other caution appeared on the third lap when Dustin Sorensen lost power (he suffered carburetor issues that originally struck in his consolation race). ... Nick Hoffman won Thursday's Comp Cams Super Dirt Series feature and Pierce won Friday's co-sanctioned main event.
On the move: Tyler Erb of New Waverly, Texas, started 10th and finished third.
