What won the race: Slipping by early leader Jake Hartung completing the fourth lap, third-starting Dave Mass of East Bethel, Minn., led the final 22 circuits in winning Wednesday's first Twin Ports Twin 25 feature, worth $2,611 at Gondik Law Speedway. Mass beat Ashley Anderson to the line by 2.806 seconds for his first career Structural Buildings WISSOTA Challenge Series victory and his second feature win this season.
Quotable: “I’m just so damn happy, I don’t event know what to think,” Mass said. “It was a good track, I struggle here every time, but somehow I’m making the right choices with the car and with help from Don Shaw and everybody at home and all the people that help me get here. The car has just been pretty decent here lately.”
Key notes: Mass, who was lifted to win the night's second heat race after the top two finishers (Jake Redetzke, Kevin Burdick) were disqualified for deck-height violations, captured his second feature victory this season, adding to his May 3 local WISSOTA Late Model triumph at Ogilvie (Minn.) Raceway. ... He became the 26th winner in the event's 39-race history. ... Mass, who became the series points leader, notched his first special event victory since June 21, 2024, a Northern LateModel Racing Association stop at I-94 EMR Speedway in Fergus Falls, Minn., worth $1,250. ... Redetzke scratched for the night, while Burdick was unable to transfer out of the first consolation. ... Polesitter Ashley Anderson regained the runner-up spot on lap eight and trailed Mass the rest of the way, but never truly challenged for the lead. ... Recently crowned track champion Dave Flynn prevailed to finish third after a back-and-forth battle with Kevin Eder in the closing laps. Eder settled for fourth. ... Sammy Mars improved nine positions to finish sixth. ... Shane Sabraski and Joel Bennett were also disqualified after deck height violations following the first heat race. Sabraski used a last-lap pass to win the second consolation, but could only muster a 16th-place finish, while Bennett finished 18th after utilizing a series provisional. ... Jake Hartung led the opening three laps before slipping to 11th. He is slated to start on the pole position for the second Twin 25 feature after Mass drew an 11-car invert in victory lane. ... Darin Meierotto spun to draw the race's first caution on lap seven then retired. ... Division rookie Devin Fouquette and Gunner Frank tangled for the second and final stoppage on lap 12. Fouquette retired, while Frank continued to finish 22nd. ... The first Twin Ports 25-lapper lasted 21 minutes. ... Dan Bargender scratched for the night after hard frontstretch wall contact during the night's fourth heat race.
On the move: Dave Flynn of Superior Wis., started 13th and finished third.
