Cade Dillard heads for victory at Boothill Speedway.
What won the race: Overtaking David Breazeale early and holding off challengers in lapped traffic, pole-starting Cade Dillard of Robeline, La., captured Friday's $10,000 sixth annual Ronny Adams Memorial at Boothill Speedway for his sixth career Comp Cams Super Dirt Series victory. Dillard, who got upside down leading last year's event, took the checkers 0.898 seconds ahead of runner-up Ethan Dotson at the quarter-mile oval near Shreveport.
Quotable: "I was just praying nothing goofy happened there and I didn't have a flat or anything crazy," Dillard said, adding that he had to "hustle it around pretty good there. Once (crew chief) Donnie (Pederson signaled me), I kind of changed my line there and I was pulling away. I just tried to be a little more cautious and stay far enough away that they could try nothing dumb on us there. But, man, what an awesome racetrack."
Key notes: Outside front-row starter David Breazeale led the opening five laps before giving way to Dillard, who held off challenges from Ethan Dotson and B.J. Robinson through lapped traffic in leading the final 35 laps. ... Dillard ended a 14-month drought on the Super Late Model circuit. His previous victory came Jan. 6, 2024, in the opener of the Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout at Vado (N.M.) Speedway Park. ... His other lone full-field top five in 2025 came with a fourth-place finish in this January's WWS opener. ... Dillard's victory was his first on the Comp Cams circuit since Sept. 9, 2023, at Boothill. ... Dillard also captured the race honoring Ronny Adams, the 14-time Boothill Speedway champion and winner of nearly 600 feature races overall, in 2021. ... Kyle Beard started 20th and finished 10th. ... The 40-lap feature lasted 18 minutes, with 10 starters completing the distance and 18 running at the finish. ... Drake Troutman slipped to ninth before retiring on lap 11 with electrical issues. ... Sixth-running Clay Stuckey called it a night on the 14th lap. ... The weekend was originally set for $5,000- and $10,000-to-win events to open the Comp Cams season, but Saturday's poor forecast condensed it to a single program. ... The event marked the first on the series for new director Ernie Leftwich, the former Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association series director. Leftwich, along with administrator and scorer Missy Holman, joined the Comp Cams circuit after many years with the shuttered MLRA tour.
On the move: Timothy Culp of Prattsville, Ark., started 16th and finished fourth.
