Campbell captures Show-Me Series finale
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (Oct. 29) — Larry Campbell of Van Buren, Ark., captured the inaugural Boogerman at Springfield Raceway for an $800 payday in the finale on the Race Brothers Show-Me Racin' Series.
Campbell faced lapped traffic late in the race that allowed his pursuers to challenge, but he held on for his second series victory of the season.
“I was just trying to stay put,” Campbell said. “I slowed way down the last 10 laps of that race. I just tried to stay on his bumper, maybe a little inside of him. I just tried to cover the racetrack and cover my bases.”
Brandon Hunter of Alma, Ark., settled for second with Rylan Long of Greenfield, Mo., in the third spot. Leslie Essary of Crane, Mo., and Rex Merritt of Billings, Mo., rounded out the top five finishers.
Justin Wells of Aurora, Mo., was sixth, but it was enough for him to collect his fourth Show-Me Series championship. He'll pick up $6,000 at the postseason banquet.
