Franklin scores $10,000 repeat at Golden Isles

BRUNSWICK, Ga. (Oct. 18) — Dennis Franklin of Gaffney, S.C., drove the Barry Wright house car to a flag-to-flag victory at Golden Isles Speedway in the 14th annual Showdown on the Coast for his second consecutive victory in the National Late Model Series event. Franklin, who started outside the front row, pocketed $10,000. Former series champion Ivedent Lloyd Jr. of Ocala, Fla., rallied after winning a consolation race to finish second while Mark Whitener of Middleburg, Fla., was third. Polesitter Johnny Collins of Jacksonville, Fla., finished 18th.
