Moyer Jr. wins $2,000 at Northeast Arkansas

June 10, 2012, 7:01 am
From series reports

HARRISBURG, Ark. (June 9) — Billy Moyer Jr. denied fellow Batesville, Ark., driver Wendell Wallace a weekend sweep Saturday at Northeast Arkansas Speedway with a $2,000 triumph on the Comp Cams Super Dirt Series.

Moyer shot to the lead on a lap-nine restart and led the rest of the way to the checkers in outrunning Wallace, who won the previous night’s series event in Malden, Mo. Dane Dacus of Lakeland, Tenn., rebounded from a last-place finish at Malden for third while Curtis Cook of Vilonia, Ark., scored his second top-five finish of the weekend in fourth. Jeff Floyd of Walnut Ridge, Ark., came from his 14th starting spot to round out the top five.

Moyer notched his ninth career series victory to move into second place on the all-time series list behind Wallace.

Polesitter Todd Hall of Charleston, Mo., led from the outset, but contact with fellow front-row starter Randy Todd of Lexington, Tenn., on the sixth lap forced Hall to slow, triggering a caution.

Todd inherited the lead but after a lap-nine yellow for a Tommy Surrett-Robert Baker tangle, Moyer took command.

While the ninth-starting Wallace and 14th-starting Floyd headed for the front, Moyer was still in control when the final caution appeared on lap 23 for a major incident involving Todd, Jamie Dacus, Johnny Virden and Keith Lawson.

Moyer led the field back to green and raced to the checkers for his second series victory of the season.
