Chilton completes Lake Cumberland sweep

(Oct. 13) — Completing a sweep Saturday of the Ironman Classis-Border Wars, Michael Chilton of Salvisa, Ky., enjoyed the richest weekend of his career at Lake Cumberland Speedway. Saturday’s $5,000 payday increased his two-day earnings to $8,000 at the 3/8-mile oval. | Friday night results
Chilton, who pocketed $3,000 for Friday’s victory, was chased to the checkers by polesitter Chris Combs of Isom, Ky. Vic Hill of Mosheim, Tenn., was third followed by Tanner English of Benton, Ky., and Victor Lee of Harrodsburg, Ky., in the Chris Tilley-promoted event.
Chilton took the lead from the outset and was in control on the fourth lap when Brad Neat and Ricky Arms tangled in turn three, collecting six other competitors.
After another quick yellow for a slowing Kenny Cobble, Chilton scooted away from Combs and stayed out front the rest of the way as the racing groove narrowed up as the event wore on.
