Thornton completes Labor Day sweep at Canyon
PEORIA, Ariz. (Sept. 5) — Ricky Thornton Jr. of Chandler, Ariz., completed a Labor Day weekend sweep at Canyon Speedway Park with another 25-lap victory Sunday on the Total Seal Late Model Dirt Racing Series.
Driving a Joey Moriarty-owned car, Thornton started fourth — as he did Saturday — and quickly worked to the front in notching his fourth series victory of the season.
Series points leader Anthony Madrid of Pheonix, Ariz., tied with Thornton with four series victories, was second in Sunday's feature followed by Bud Grossenbacher, Moriarty and Jeremy Thornton.
