I’m at the point in my life where I enjoy my “off” weekends. To me, an off weekend is one where I don’t have to be at a Lucas Oil race or I don’t have cover something for DirtonDirt.com. I’ve got the opportunity to do anything I want to do and go anyplace I want to go. That’s why, about three or four times every year, you can find me at Oakshade Raceway.

Often referred to as simply “The Shade”, this little 3/8-mile track is just a few miles off I-90, north of Wauseon, Ohio.

Isn’t it ironic that, after a 4,500-mile, five-state journey of race (and rain) chasing throughout the upper Midwest, the first race I try to go to here at home gets totally wiped out by Mother Nature? Last night’s rescheduled Ohio All-Star Sprint Speedweek show at Attica, which also featured Dirt Late Models for $1,500-to-win race, saw an absolute monsoon hit and flood the place out. Sounds like just my luck.

Seriously, what’s the first thing a person usually writes about when starting a blog? I have no idea.

As for me, I’m a free-lance writer-reporter and a wanna-be photographer. I also do some work for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in the form of internet broadcasting and TV color commentating on Speed. Over the last 15 years or so, I’ve served as a race director, announcer, public relations director and God knows what else.
