Lucas Oil postpones weekend events
Feeling the effects of Winter Storm Stella, along with forecasts for more wintry weather, the Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series has postponed its March 17-18 weekend doubleheader. Series officials announced Wednesday afternoon that both stops — Friday at Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio, and Saturday at Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway — have been postponed.
The third annual Buckeye Spring 50 at Atomic Speedway has been rescheduled for Thursday, April 20, while the 20th annual Indiana Icebreaker has been reset for Friday, Sept. 22. The race at Brownstown will now pay $7,000-to-win and has been renamed The Tribute to Steve Barnett. It leads into the 38th Annual Jackson 100 on Sept. 23, setting up a Lucas Oil-sanctioned doubleheader at the southern Indiana oval. The single-day Jackson 100 pay $15,000-to-win.
Other weather-related schedule changes:
County Line Raceway, Elm City, N.C.: Saturday's Ultimate Super Late Model Series was postponed; the makeup date will be announced later.
Tri-County Speedway, Brasstown, N.C.: Weather forced the postponement of Friday’s Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series event. No makeup date was announced.
Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway: Friday's season-opener for the MARS DIRTcar Series East was cancelled. The series was scheduled to make its first Brownstown appearance. A makeup date wasn't announced.
