Facing a gloomy forecast with chances for thunderstorms, the Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals cancelled Friday’s event at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tenn.
The Ray Cook-promoted miniseries is set to conclude Saturday at Tazewell (Tenn.) Speedway for the $10,000-to-win finale. Brandon Overton of Evans, Ga., leads the tour with 1,554 points over Shanon Buckingham (1,534) and Donald McIntosh (1,526). Overton and McIntosh have three victories apiece.
