Fayetteville adds Big C Dash on May 11

Fayetteville (N.C.) Motor Speedway’s blockbuster 50th anniversary special for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series will also pay tribute to late race team owner Carlton Lamm, whose Dunn-Benson Motorsports entry has been a mainstay at the 4/10-mile oval.

The winning purse for WoO's First in Flight 100 presented by Hoker Trucking has been increased by $1 — $25,001 to honor the Dunn-Benson No. 1 cars — for the May 11-12 touring event. Additionally, the track has added Friday's $500-to-win Big C Dash for Cash in honor of Lamm, a prelim that will determine the starting positions for Saturday’s main event. Weekend action also includes a non-qualifiers’ race paying $2,000-to-win and $300-to-start.

Fayetteville promoter Jim Long Jr. is glad to recognize Lamm, a man “who has done so much for the sport of racing in this area and been a great friend to all of us here at Fayetteville Motor Speedway,” he said in a press release.

Lamm, who co-owned Dunn-Benson Motorsports with his son Kemp, died last month after a life-long association with cars through Dunn Benson Ford and his auto racing operation, which fielded cars for dirt racers including Earl Pearson Jr., Rodney Combs, Clint Smith and current driver Bobby Pierce.

Two-day general admission tickets are $55; two-day pit passes are $75. For more race details and to purchase tickets, visit fayettevillemotorspeedway.com. — Series reports
