MLRA, NASCAR tour regular dies at 66
Randy McGraw of Marshall, Mo., a veteran of Missouri Late Model racing and former Sportsmanship Award winner on the NASCAR Busch All-Star Tour, died Thursday in his sleep after suffering a heart attack. He was 66.
McGraw’s racing ended in 2012 after a career of more than 40 years with numerous feature victories and track championships at dirt ovals in Sedalia and Moberly, Mo., among others. He was a frequent regional touring contender with the Busch All-Stars and the Missouri-based Midwest LateModel Racing Association.
“He loved being at the racetrack and made many life-long friends from racing,” his son Chad wrote in a message to DirtonDirt.com.
A 1970 graduate of Marshall High School, he was owner-operater of McGraw Automotive and Towing.
Besides Chad, McGraw is survived by wife Kathy and a daughter, Erin McGraw, and two grandchildren. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Monday, May 14, at First Baptist Church in Marshall. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, at the church with burial to follow at Ridge Park Cemetery.
