Deep South's SAS weekend postponed
With coronavirus pandemic restrictions continuing to shuffle spring schedules, the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series announced it will push back its upcoming two-race weekend at Deep South Speedway in Loxley, Ala.
The $3,000- and $5,000-to-win races are rescheduled for June 5-6; the races were originally scheduled for April 17-18.
Among other touring and special-event schedule changes because of the pandemic:
Richmond Raceway: The Kentucky track postponed its 54th season opener, a program slated to include a $5,000-to-win event on the Ultimate Heart of America tour; no makeup date was immediately announced.
Wythe Raceway: The Rural Retreat, Va., track announced it would postpone its opener until April 25. The April 11 Schaeffer's Spring Nationals event is postponed and series founder Ray Cook said he'll soon announce updates on the tour schedule.
Winchester Speedway: The Virginia oval cancelled Saturday's $3,000-to-win Mountain Madness event for Super Late Models; the track tentatively plans to reopen April 25.
Tri-County Speedway: The Pollard, Ala., track has postponed the opening of its season until at least April 18; that removes Saturday's Mississippi State Championship Challenge event from the track's schedule.
Friendship Motor Speedway: The April 11 season opener for the Fastrak Racing Series has been postponed. Series officials and officials at the Elkin, N.C., track hope to reschedule the event when “a more definitive timeline becomes available,” according to a series release.
