Spring Nationals, Slocum 50 postponed
Citing restrictions on crowds because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Schaeffer's Spring Nationals tour has postponed four April events with plans to reschedule the races, series promoter Ray Cook announced today.
The series had been scheduled to compete April 10-11 at Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Va., and April 11 at Tazewell (Tenn.) Speedway and April 17-18 at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Ga., and Senoia (Ga.) Raceway. Cook plans to make an April 27 announcement with potential makeup dates.
The Spring Nationals have six scheduled May races beginning with May 8 at Crossville (Tenn.) Speedway.
Among other scheduling changes because of the pandemic:
34 Raceway: April 18’s Slocum 50 at the West Burlington, Iowa, oval has been rescheduled for July 3; the Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association event pays $10,555-to-win.
Eldora Speedway: The Rossburg, Ohio, oval cancelled April 4 and 9 practices and postponed events through April, including the April 18 season opener that was slated to include Late Models.
Davenport Speedway: April 10’s Hoker Trucking Series event at Davenport (Iowa) Speedway has been cancelled; the series shifts its opener to June 9 at Marshalltown (Iowa) Speedway, a race also sanctioned by its sister Malvern Bank Super Late Model Series.
