Midweek shows next for Lucas tour

Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series officials today announced a revamp of the national tour’s upcoming schedule amid the coronavirus pandemic, setting three consecutive weeks of midweek doubleheaders at tracks in Missouri, Georgia and Florida as the circuit returns to action for the first time since February’s Florida-Georgia Speedweeks. | Lucas Oil schedule

Following a pair of $7,000-to-win events on May 12-13 at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., that were revealed on Thursday (along with a May 11 practice), the series has added $7,000-to-win races on May 19-20 at Golden Isles Speedway near Brunswick, Ga., and May 26-27 at East Bay Raceway Park in Gibsonton, Fla. The Tuesday-Wednesday programs will be contested without spectators allowed in the grandstands but shown live on LucasOilRacing.tv and free on the tour’s Facebook page.

The midweek events will be full series points races with a five-person limit per team. More details about restrictions will appear later at lucasdirt.com

The six new points races replace the tour’s eight previously scheduled May events that have been canceled or postponed in conjunction with Friday’s announcement.

Lucas Oil officials cancelled a May 8-9 doubleheader at Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio, and Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway as well as a May 14-16 tripleheader at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, 300 Raceway in Farley, Iowa, and Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., while shrinking the May 21-23 Show-Me 100 weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway to a single day on July 18 with the 100-lapper paying $20,000-to-win. The Farley event was rescheduled for July 13.

Golden Isles and East Bay have already combined to host seven of the eight Lucas Oil Series shows completed this season. Tim McCreadie was victorious once at both Golden Isles and East Bay while other East Bay winners during Speedweeks were Brandon Sheppard (three), Devin Moran and Mason Zeigler.
