Tyler County revives with $5,000 special

Tyler County Speedway plans to make its coronavirus-delayed 2020 opening with a $5,000-to-win Super Late Model event Thursday, May 28, the Middlebourne, W.Va., oval, announced tonight.

A spectator-free event to meet Covid-19 health restrictions, the King of the Ring 40 presented by Poske's Performance Parts includes features for Late Models and modifieds ($1,000-to-win) with live video streamed for DirtonDirt.com subscribers.

Limited to 50 race teams per division, promoters ask participants and event staff to follow social distancing practices, avoiding congregations of 10 people or more and taking precautions when necessary with hand-washing and mask-wearing. Limited concessions will be available. More details of the event will be announced at tylercountyspeedwayonline.com and social media channels. To enter, email codywatsonwv@gmail.com.

• Along with Tyler County, sister track Ohio Valley Speedway in Washington, W.Va., is also opening. Tyler County will host a May 21 practice while Ohio Valley will host a May 22 practice and May 24 regular-season opener. After the May 28 event, the tracks have scheduled the Mega 100 weekend with May 29-30 events for modifieds at Ohio Valley and Tyler County.
