Keyser bonuses again spice Arizona
After multiple drivers grabbed bonuses with the Keyser Quarter-Million Challenge in previous years, the incentive program returns for January's Keyser Manufacturing Wild West Shootout presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts at FK Rod Ends Arizona Speedway near Phoenix.
A single-driver sweep of six nights of racing Super Late Model racing — including bonuses — would pay $293,000 for the winter event that annually draws 50 teams from around the country chasing $235,000 in total purse money. Keyser's bonus program pays $250,000 for winning six races, $100,000 for five victories, $25,000 for four victories or $10,000 for three victories.
“Having Keyser Manufacturing involved in our event as both the title sponsor and bonus sponsor has been a major catalyst in the success of the Wild West Shootout. Bobby (Pierce) proved in 2019 that it was possible to win part of the bonus. However, I don’t think anybody would’ve guessed that two drivers would win the bonus, but that’s just what (Brandon) Sheppard and (Brian) Shirley did in 2020,” event promoter Chris Kearns said in a press release. “I’m looking forward to seeing if a driver can win an even bigger bonus in 2021. The thought of someone possibly winning that $250,000 bonus especially gets me excited.”
Super Late Models chase $5,000 winner's purse on Jan. 9-10, 13, and 15-16 with a $15,000-to-win finale on Jan. 17. Practice is set for Jan. 8 and 12. Advance tickets and miniseries details are available at wildwestshootout.net.
