Historic pay for I-80's expanded July week
Expanding its Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series visit in July to a whopping five days, I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., has posted more than a half million in purse money for the newly added three-day Al Belt Custom Homes I-80 Nationals and two-day Imperial Tile Silver Dollar Nationals.
The July 20-24 action includes a Thursday finale of the I-80 Nationals paying $30,000-to-win and a Saturday Silver Dollar Nationals finale paying $53,000-to-win and an unprecedented $5,300-to-start, the richest start money in Dirt Late Model history.
The I-80 Nationals kick off July 20-21 with $7,000-to-win preliminary programs on Tuesday and Wednesday setting up Thursday's 53-lapper that pays $30,000 to the winner. A non-qualifiers' race pays $2,000-to-win.
Friday's Silver Dollar Nationals action launches with the event's traditional double-heat race format that sets up Saturday's 80-lap feature paying $53,000-to-win, the national tour's second-richest winning payday of 2021 from a $260,000 feature purse. The $5,300 payout to the 30th and last-place finisher is more than double 2020's start money. A non-qualifiers' race pays $5,300-to-win and $1,000-to-start.
• I-80 also shifted its Dirt Track Bank Go 50 — a Lucas Oil event originally scheduled for July 22 — to Wednesday, Sept. 15, in advance of the tour's three-day Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals at Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway.
