Wythe’s Spring Natl’s date doomed again

A wet and cool forecast has cancelled Friday's Schaeffer's Spring Nationals event at Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Va.

The $10,053-to-win race, also halted by weather on its original April 2 date, won't be rescheduled, but the Fred Brown-owned track is on track to a host a July 17 event on the Schaeffer's Southern Nationals event, a sister tour also promoted by Ray Cook.

The Spring Nationals continue Saturday at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tenn., with a $10,053-to-win event. Pits open at 2 p.m. and grandstands at 3 with $25 general admission, Visit smokymtnspeed.com for complete details.

Other weekend events hampered by weather:

Thunderhill Raceway Park: Saturday’s $3,000-to-win Topless Outlaws Series event at the Summertown, Tenn., oval was rained out and reset for June 12.

Park Jefferson Speedway: The South Dakota track's Saturday event for the Malvern Bank Super Late Model Series was washed out by rain.

Port Royal Speedway: Saturday's program at the Pennsylvania track featuring the Zimmer's United Late Model Series was canceled due to rain and below-normal temperatures. No makeup date was immediately announced.

Paragon Speedway: Friday's Indiana Crate Late Model Series event was rained out and won't be rescheduled.

Beckley Motorsports Park: An unfavorable forecast of overnight rain and cold temperatures forced the postponement of Saturday’s American All-Star Series event at the West Virginia oval. The $10,000-to-win Back the Blue event was rescheduled for June 19; Beckley will, however, attempt to have a regular race program on Sat., May 8.

Atomic Speedway: Friday's $5,000-to-win opener of the Valvoline Iron-Man Racing Northern Series weekend at the Alma, Ohio, track was rained out after time trials. While the event will not be made up, the tour will contest its scheduled $13,004-to-win program on Saturday.

Princeton Speedway: Friday's $3,000-to-win American All-Star Series show at the West Virginia was rained out and rescheduled for May 14.

Big Diamond Speedway: Rain forced the cancellation of Friday's first-ever Zimmer's United Late Model Series event at the Forestville, Pa., track; the tour will try again there in 2022.

Attica Raceway Park: The northern Ohio oval's $3,000-to-win Super Late Model special Friday was rained out.
