The MARS Racing Series presented by Rip-It on Monday promoted Mark Coglianese to race director, the Illinois-based series announced.

The Manhattan, Ill., resident, who has worked as an official with the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series and Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, will oversee race-day setup, race procedures, lineups and other duties on the Tony Izzo Jr.-owned circuit.

“There isn’t anything you can’t assign Mark to do at the racetrack," Izzo said in a series release. "His knowledge of what needs done and his willingness to make it happen makes him a perfect fit in our team. To build a series that is going to succeed you need to have the right people in place and Mark is one of those next steps for us to ensure future success.”

Coglianese, in his second season with MARS, is an office manager for Springview Property Management and coaches football and track at Providence Catholic High School in New Lenox, Ill. He lives in Manhattan with his wife Stephanie and their two children.
