Summer Nationals lose I-96 event
July 15's DIRTcar Summer Nationals event at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Mich., has been removed from the tour's schedule, the series announced. Track promoters, operating on what they described a "week-to-week basis," were concerned about being able to to cover the $10,000-to-win Summer Nationals purse in light of a nearby conflicting motorsports event, according to a post this morning on the track's Facebook page.
Series officials are seeking a replacement track for the series which has seen six scheduled races cancelled, including two in Michigan. The loss of the I-96 date leaves four Michigan tracks on the schedule for July 20-23 events that wrap up the six-week series.
