The annual Camp Barnes Benefit Stock Car race is returning to its roots for its 50th anniversary with an Oct. 1 event at Georgetown (Del.) Speedway that includes a $5,000-to-win program for Super Late Models.

The event, organized each year by the Delaware State Police to raise funds for the Frankford, Del.-based Camp Barnes, originated at Georgetown on Sept. 18, 1951, with a race won by Dick Kauffman. The event continued at Georgetown through 1957 before later being run at the Harrington (Del.) Fairgrounds and Delaware International Speedway in Delmar, Del.

Along with the 25-lap Super Late Model feature, a big-block/small-block modified event is on the card along with several other divisions, including a $1,500-to-win race for RUSH-sanctioned Crate Late Models. Visit georgetownspeedway.com for more details.

Another other recent schedule changes:

• The XR Southern All Star Series has added $3,000- and $7,000-to-win events at Super Bee Speedway in Chatham, La., on Oct. 14-15.

• Hartford (Mich.) Speedway’s Aug. 12 Allstar Performance Challenge Series event has been removed from the tour schedule.

• Wartburg (Tenn.) Speedway’s Dylan Kennedy Memorial, rained out Friday, has been rescheduled for Aug. 27. The $10,037-to-win Limited Late Model event was originally rescheduled for Aug. 13 but shifted two weeks later because of conflicts with other events.

• The United Championship Racing Alliance cancelled its Aug. 20 visit to Sugar Creek Raceway in Blue Ridge, Ga.
