$57,000 added to Prairie Dirt purse
The World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series and Fairbury (Ill.) Speedway will next season celebrate 10 years of collaboration by making the 33rd annual Prairie Dirt Classic bigger than ever with an additional $57,000 added to the purse.
The long-running 100-lapper scheduled for July 28-29 will boost its starting purse to $3,000 (up from $2,000) and pay $5,000-to-win (up from $3,000) for the opening night's qualifying semifeatures.
While the event — sponsored by the Bank of Pontiac and Illinois State Rifle Association — will continue to pay $50,000-to-win, every other finishing position will see at least a $1,000 increase in payout while the race will continue the $500-per-lap-led bonus instituted in 2022. The track and tour also agreed to extend its multiyear partnership (no terms or length revealed) for the richest Dirt Late Model event in Illinois.
"I'm very excited to continue our great partnership with the World of Outlaws into the future,” Fairbury's owner and promoter Matt Curl said, adding the series has been "amazing to work with and I can't wait for what the future holds."
“We’re grateful to have a partner like Matt to be able to bring race fans incredible racing at an incredible track every year,” said World of Outlaws CEO Brian Carter. “The Prairie Dirt Classic continues to grow into not only one of the biggest World of Outlaws events of the year but also one of dirt racing’s biggest events, and I’m excited we’ll be able to continue that growth for years to come.”
