Rough forecast dooms WoO Illini 100
Citing forecasts calling for heavy rain and thunderstorms from Friday through Saturday, along with dropping temperatures and dangerously strong winds, World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series and Farmer City Speedway officials announced the cancellation of this weekend’s Illini 100.
The March 31-April 1 doubleheader set to include $8,000- and $25,000-to-win events will not be rescheduled.
It’s the third time that the Illini 100 will not be run since its launch in 2008, joining 2011 and ’18 (weather) and ’20 (Covid-19). It also marks the third straight weekend of WoO action that’s been called off early this season due to difficult weather, following March 3-4 at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tenn., and March 16-18 at Smoky Mountain and Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Ga.
The WoO tour’s next competition is scheduled for April 20 at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tenn., and April 21-22’s Alabama Gang 100 at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Ala.
