Weather nixes Lucas Oil doubleheader
With weather forecasts calling for rain and cold temperatures across central Illinois on Friday and Saturday, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series officials announced the cancellation of this weekend’s events at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City and Macon Speedway.
The April 21-22 doubleheader scheduled to pay $12,000- and $15,000-to-win won't be made up.
“We’ve been in constant communication with both venues all week continuously evaluating the situation. Unfortunately, the weather just isn’t in our favor this weekend,” Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series director Rick Schwallie said. “These decisions are never easy. However, with the forecast for rain and temperatures falling to the low 40s at race time on Saturday, we all agree this is in the best interest of our fans and race teams.”
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series now heads for a Northeast tripleheader April 28-30 at Georgetown (Del.) Speedway, Hagerstown (Md.) Speedway and Port Royal (Pa.) Speedway.
