Sooner tour’s points fund upgraded
The Complete Well Testing Sooner Late Model Series postseason points fund is expected to top $25,000 for 2023 with payouts doubled for the champion ($6,000), 10th-place points finisher ($2,000) and Rookie of the Year ($2,000) from 2022 payouts.
The Hayden Ross Motorsports Foundation, the family-developed educational organization paying tribute to the late 2022 tour champion, plans to match the points fund from the Oklahoma-based tour's title sponsor to provide "good incentive for drivers around here to chase that series," said Brady Ross, Hayden's father. He hopes the series continues to draw more interest.
“I have talked with some people who are thinking about changing over from a B-Mod to a Late Model because the cost is not much different,” Ross said. “They are not racing at the same place every weekend and with a schedule in Oklahoma we are not traveling a bunch. This is a really good series that is a platform for young drivers to get into racing.”
Brett Hansen of Fort Gibson, Okla., is the tour's points leader after two races.
