Forecasts doom Lucas Oil tripleheader
Forecasts for a rainy Mid-Atlantic weekend have ruined Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series plans for a tripleheader weekend, leaving the national tour without a race since February's Florida Speedweeks action. | Other weekend rainouts
While Friday's $18,049-to-win Melvin L. Joseph Memorial at Georgetown (Del.) Speedway has been rescheduled for Aug. 24, Saturday's Conococheague 50 at Hagerstown (Md.) Speedway and Sunday's Battle in the Borough at Port Royal (Pa.) Speedway won't be rescheduled.
The Lucas Oil Series is now scheduled to return to action with its May 4-6 weekend at Atomic Speedway near Chillicothe, Ohio; Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Ky.; and Florence Speedway in Union, Ky.
The Lucas Oil tour's Feb. 10-May 4 stretch between Speedweeks and regular season action would mark the longest since the pandemic-caused break from Feb. 9-May 19, 2020. Other than 2020, the series has had at least one race in March and/or April in each of the tour's seasons going back to its 2004 founding.
