A 28-time Late Model feature winner at BAPS Motor Speedway and a 35-year Late Model team owner whose drivers won multiple special events are among this year’s inductees into the York Haven, Pa., track’s Hall of Fame.

Jeff Leiphart of York, Pa., the track’s third all-time winningest driver and a two-time champ, will be enshrined along with team owner Will Shatzer, who fielded cars for drivers including Jim Shuttlesworth, Ralph Paulus, Ed Hake, Charlie Kope, Mike Hess, Rich Eichelberger, Gary Potts, Ty Shatzer and Scott McCann.

Along with his 28 victories at BAPS, Leiphart had success at two Mechanicsburg, Pa., ovals, winning 25 Late Model features at Silver Spring Speedway and four at Williams Grove Speedway. He was a two-time winner of the Late Model 50 at BAPS and captured track titles in 1987 and ’88, the same year he also won a Silver Spring championship.

Shatzer was the winning car owner for the 1989 Late Model 50 with Charlie Kope behind the wheel with the team capturing the Silver Spring Speedway title the same season. Five years earlier, Kope drove a Shatzer-owned entry to victory in the Late Model portion of the Freedom 76 at Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, Pa.

Other inductees are Frankie Herr (super sportsman), Stan Wanner (street stocks), Charlie Pensinger (extreme stocks), Ben Woodring (owner-builder) and former track owner Glenn Hyneman (outstanding achievement). The Hall of Fame ceremony will be part of the track’s May 27 race program.
