Signal sticks banned at Eldora's Dream
This year's version of Eldora Speedway's Dream for Super Late Models will have two extra starters and 48 fewer signal sticks for the $129,000-to-win DIRTcar sanctioned event scheduled for June 8-10 at the Tony Stewart-owned track in Rossburg, Ohio.
In today's revealing of Eldora's entry form for Dream XXIX, the track announced the weekend's 100-lap finale will have 26 starters for the first time since 2012 with an event-record $585,828 weekend purse, $315,228 being doled out in Dirt Late Model racing's richest feature race of the season. Each feature starter receives a minimum $5,029. The event had 24 starters last season and 28 starters from 2013-21.
The track also announced that team members are no longer permitted to use signal sticks to communicate with drivers in a rule similar to the one instituted by the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series in August 2021. Crew members may use hand signals and colored gloves, but no objects or items with electricity or battery power.
The track has scheduled early hauler parking and tech inspection (5-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 7) followed by the return of the Dream Pre-Race Party at 8 p.m. with the rock band Erastus performing in the Fan Zone.
June 8-9 action includes the traditional split-field preliminaries with two $12,000-to-win each night. Each 25-lapper pays $1,000-to-start out of a $52,800 purse for each race. Find entry forms at eldoraspeedway.com.
