The funeral for inaugural National Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer Freddy Smith of Bessemer City, N.C., is 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, at Christ Worship Center in Gastonia, N.C., with veteran racer and promoter Ray Cook one of two officiants.

Smith, 76, died Saturday at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C.

Survivors include wife Naomi Smith and son Jeff Smith, also a veteran Dirt Late Model racer. William Freddy Smith also had four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
