Sommer raffling off new DRT car, cash
Special event promoter and upstart chassis builder Cody Sommer announced Monday a unique raffle in which the winner will receive a new Race DRT Dirt Late Model and $20,000 cash.
Sommer revealed details of the promotion in a video posted on social media outlets. Contestants can earn entries to the contest by purchasing merchandise or Fast Pass options at www.racedrt.com with the winner randomly drawn on the final night of Dec. 4-6’s Gateway Dirt Nationals, Sommer’s indoor racing spectacle at The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis, Mo.
“I am very excited to get this launched and live,” Sommer said in his announcement of the raffle. “I’ve taken a lot of risks in racing promotions over the years and done a lot of different things — some have worked, some have not. This right here is no different. It is like promoting a $100,000-to-win race and hoping people show up for it.”
Sommer said he put in a “tremendous amount of work” to make the concept a reality, including figuring out the necessary technical issues, software and regulations. He added that he plans to detail every step of the raffle car’s construction in videos posted to Race DRT social media accounts over the coming months.
“I am looking forward to showing people the entire (building) process and making someone very happy on Dec. 6,” Sommer said.
Sommer debuted his first Race DRT Chassis with himself behind the wheel during last year’s World 100 at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. He is planning to field his house car for the first time in June’s Dream at Eldora with a driver to be named soon.
