HTF tour suspends Page 30 days
Levying penalties for Saturday's postrace altercation at Senoia (Ga.) Raceway, the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series has suspended Michael Page of Douglasville, Ga., for 30 days while placing Page and fellow combatant Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, Tenn., on probation.
Page, who the series tagged as the “primary aggressor” for ramming Hedgecock’s car on the cool-down lap, lost $1,900 in sixth-place earnings via his disqualification and was fined $2,000 for he and his crew fighting. The series also placed Page on probation through 2025.
Hedgecock, who sits second in series points and finished third at Senoia, was fined $1,000 for fighting and placed on probation through 2025.
Because the HTF tour is DIRTcar-sanctioned, the drivers’ probations and Page’s suspension extend to all DIRTcar and World Racing Group-affiliated events. All fines must be paid before eligibility for HTF, DIRTcar or WRG events.
The series said Page was warned via one-way radio after the checkered flag that retaliation would result in disqualification. The immediate disqualification was for “making deliberate and dangerous contact with another competitor,” per series rules.
Page rammed Hedgecock’s car after the race, shoving it into the backstretch wall where it nearly overturned. With Hedgecock’s car perched on Page’s hood, both drivers exited their vehicles and engaged in a physical altercation. Several Page crew members joined the altercation despite efforts by track and series officials to stop them.
"They had to do something and really I’m good with Michael and ready to race again," Hedgecock said in a statement to DirtonDirt, saying he understood the penalties. "Have no problem with him at the moment. It’s his entire crew, is what it is."
DirtonDirt contacted Page for comment but didn't immediately receive a reply.
