Bill Kirk Memorial purse boosted
A boost in sponsorship from Fremont Tire/T&W Tire makes Aug. 1’s Repairable Vehicles.com Tri-State Series event at Park Jefferson (S.D.) Speedway the second richest event on the series schedule.
The Bill Kirk Memorial, originally scheduled to pay $3,000-to-win, will now pay $5,086-to-win and $400-to-start after $10,000 was added to the night’s race purse.
Series rookie Jeffrey Larson of Lakefield, Minn., won the tour’s first stop at Park Jeff on June 27. More details for the Aug. 1 race will be announced.
The Bill Kirk Memorial honors the Iowa Hall of Famer from Salix, Iowa, who won 14 multidivision championships in a career driving No. 86 race cars that started in 1959. The racer who died in 1988 is also scheduled to be inducted into the Northeast Nebraska Motorsports Hall of Fame in October.
