East Moline ends season prematurely

First-year East Moline (Ill.) Speedway promoter Rob Parker has prematurely ended the track's season, cancelling the final five events at the quarter-mile oval owned by the Rock Island County Fair.
“I deeply regret to inform all the racers, supportive fans and sponsors that the East Moline Speedway 2025 season has come to an early end,” Parker said on the track’s Facebook page this morning, 12 hours after Sunday’s event. “It is not financially feasible to continue on due to the low car counts, low attendance and unfulfilled promised community financial support.”
Parker, a Michigan native and former racer making his promotional debut at East Moline, also thanked the track preparation crew, staff volunteers and other supporters for their assistance.
Logan Veloz of Colona, Ill., won six of eight IMCA-sanctioned Late Model features at East Moline and topped points in the division that drew 23 Late Models competing at least once (the track drew 26 Late Models in the previous two seasons under promoters Chuck Hanna, Kyle Meier and Casey Meier).
The track, which didn't host any Dirt Late Model tours, averaged 9.6 Late Models per event with a season high of 15 entrants on May 25. The track had fewer than 10 Late Models at half its events.
The original schedule called for events on Aug. 3, Aug. 10, Aug. 17 and the Aug. 24 season championship, along with a Sept. 7 finale.
