Lucas Oil suspends Dillard six months
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series today suspended driver Cade Dillard of Robeline, La., for six months in connection to Friday’s collision with Garrett Alberson at Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, Ark.
Citing Dillard’s admission in a post-wreck interview that he caused the wreck intentionally and intended to “do it again if the opportunity arose,” the national tour announced that “Dillard’s on-track and off-track actions were deemed aggressive, violating the conduct policy.”
No one was injured on the lap-eight restart of a semifeature during the Nutrien Ag Solutions Topless 100 weekend at Batesville. Alberson slid under Dillard to take the lead on the restart with their cars colliding exiting turn two and triggering a backstretch pileup that eliminated both drivers from the 25-lap event won by Jonathan Davenport.
The 34-year-old Dillard isn’t a regular on the Lucas Oil Series but has made five feature starts in 2025 with a best finish of ninth on July 11 at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo.
Dillard on Wednesday issued an apology, posting on Facebook that "unfortunately when you’re human, mistakes are made," adding that Cade Dillard Racing's planned 2025 schedule remains as planned with his next racing at Arrowhead Speedway in Colcord, Okla.
"I would like to extend my sincerest apologies to our sponsors, crew, fans and especially my family this past weekend," Dillard wrote. "It fell short of our standards expected at CDR. We are committed to learning from this experience and moving forward positively. We look forward to seeing everyone at the track soon."
