WoO plans '26 stop at shorter WVMS
The World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series today announced it plans to compete next season at West Virginia Motor Speedway, the national tour’s first visit to the Mineral Wells, W.Va., oval since 2013.
June 12-13’s RaceFest, the 10th running of the event and first since 2021, will be made up of $12,000- and $30,000-to-win programs at the track purchased this year by Mike Hurley, who has created a shortened 3/8-mile layout on what was originally a 5/8-mile oval in front of picturesque terraced seating.
“Our goal with WVMS is to create one of the premier destinations in all of dirt racing,” Hurley said in a series press release. “We look forward to achieving this with high-profile events and series like the World of Outlaws. Two huge nights, big payouts, and the best drivers in the country … it doesn’t get any better than this.”
The World of Outlaws have had five previous feature events at WVMS with a winners' list of Jackie Boggs (Oct. 1-2, 2004), Steve Shaver (May 29-30, 2010) and Josh Richards (2013).
More details will be announced later for the event at WVMS, which plans its first competition under Hurley’s ownership on Oct. 11 with an unsanctioned $5,000-to-win Super Late Model race.
The track last hosted a national touring Super Late Model event in 2023 with Ricky Thornton Jr. winning the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event under Cody Watson promotions on the larger track. The previous RaceFest at WVMS four years ago was sanctioned by the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series with Devin Moran sweeping a two-race weekend.
