HTF expands South Georgia Showdown
The Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series this week announced plans to double winter's South Georgia Showdown for 2026, adding a pair of weeknight events at Swainsboro (Ga.) Raceway to a pair of previously scheduled races at Needmore Speedway in Norman Park, Ga.
Swainsboro’s first-ever Georgia-Florida Speedweeks events are scheduled for Feb. 2-3, joining Jan. 30-31 dates at Needmore, which made its Speedweeks debut in 2025. The four races pay $10,000-to-win.
“We’re thrilled to be working again with Chance Smith and his crew at Needmore and to welcome J.J. Williams and his team at Swainsboro into the fold for 2026,” Josh Joiners, HTF’s general manager, said in a press release. “The South Georgia Showdown got off to a great start in 2025, and expanding it into a multitrack event gives us the chance to build something even bigger. Both of these tracks bring a lot of passion and character to the sport, and we’re excited to continue growing this event together.”
While 2025’s Needmore event wasn’t for series points, all four races will be official HTF points races in 2026. However, drivers will only count their best finish among the four Showdown events toward the $50,000 championship chase. In another change for 2026, the series will allow competitors to drop two points races from season totals (including races they don’t attend).
