Southern Thunder postpones finale
The Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series has postponed and condensed its season-ending event at Clarksville (Tenn.) Speedway with a $10,000-to-win event on Nov. 8. The race is expected to be the final Super Late Model event before the track’s upcoming permanent closure.
The first-year tour originally planned Oct. 31-Nov. 1 events at Clarksville with pair of $5,000-to-win preliminaries and $15,000-to-win finale.
Among other recent schedule additions or changes:
• Marshalltown (Iowa) Speedway’s season-ending Harvest Hustle will include the Oct. 25 Carl Moyer Memorial, a $3,000-to-win Late Model event following Pro Late Model Tour rules.
• Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, Ky., has added a $10,000-to-win Super Late Model program for Nov. 1 and a $7,500-to-win Crate Late Model event for Nov. 28-29.
• Oct. 25’s Best Plumber 604 Racing Series finale at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tenn., has received a purse boost to $5,000-to-win, up from the tour’s standard $2,000 winner’s prize.
• Sugar Creek Raceway in Blue Ridge, Ga., will run a $2,500-to-win Limited Late Model event on Oct. 18, replacing an originally scheduled $5,000-to-win Super Late Model program.
• The Oct. 10-11 Late Model Shootout at Buxton Speedway in Merlin, Ontario, will pay $2,000-to-win for two complete DIRTcar-sanctioned Late Model programs.
