Decorah, Iowa-based Late Model team Skyline Motorsports today tapped 20-year-old Dallon Murty to run as a teammate to Tyler Bruening beginning in 2026. Murty replaces Mike Marlar of Winfield, Tenn., who left the team in September.

Murty, the Chelsea, Iowa, driver who won eight times in his rookie Late Model season including six in Malvern Bank Series events, was IMCA’s youngest-ever IMCA Stock Car Super Nationals champ and a 47-race winner in that division 2021. He captured 2025’s $100,000 Stock Car Rampage at Sports Park Raceway in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

“Obviously, I’m excited,” team owner Greg Bruening said in a press release. “It’s always tough to make a driver change. Mike was all class and a great teammate to Tyler, but with Dallon, I feel like we’re giving the next generation a chance. There’s no question he has tremendous potential and a bright future ahead of him, but this is also a way for us to give back to the sport. In the past, we’ve had teammates who mentored Tyler, and now I want to reverse the roles and have him take the lead.

“Despite his youth, Dallon has an extensive racing background, and he’s proven to be competitive in anything he drives,” Bruening added. “He’s also very hands-on and not afraid to get underneath the car and make adjustments. That kind of work ethic goes a long way in this sport.”

A farmer by trade, Murty joked that he may spend more time on the road than on the family farm next year, but he's grateful for the opportunity.

“This is what you dream of as a kid,” said Murty, who will drive Bruening Rock Products and Stealth Oilwell Services-sponsored No. 13. “To work your way up to the point where you can drive for someone else. I can’t thank Greg and Tyler enough for the opportunity. It’s awesome to be part of a top-notch program like Skyline Motorsports. I’m looking forward to working with the entire team. I also want to thank my family and sponsors who’ve helped me reach this point — it means a lot.”

Tyler Bruening, 40, and Murty, who will relocate to Decorah, will pilot the AK Race Cars-produced Rev1 chassis after finalizing a partnership with Austin Kirkpatrick. Cory Richman will lead Murty’s program while Zeb Holkesvik will continue as Bruening's crew chief. The team plans to open the season at Georgia-Florida Speedweeks with a complete schedule to be announced. — Jeremy Peters
