Young Floridian plots WoO rookie bid
Coming off his best Super Late Model season, Trey Mills is stepping up to the national stage in 2026 as a rookie on the World of Outlaws Real American Late Model Series, the St. Augustine, Fla., driver announced today.
The 17-year-old made significant strides this season aboard his family-owned No. 14jr team, notching first career victories on the DIRTcar Summer Nationals, Comp Cams Super Dirt Series and Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series. His most prestigious win came June 26 in the 45th annual Herald & Review 100 at Macon (Ill.) Speedway by holding off former Summer Nationals champ Brandon Sheppard. Mills added the richest payday of his career with Sept. 20’s $20,000 Cotton Pickin’ at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Miss.
“Running the full World of Outlaws tour has been a dream of mine,” Mills said in a press release. “We proved this year that we can run with these guys, and now it’s time to take on the whole schedule. I’m excited, I’m humbled, and I’m ready to give everything I’ve got to compete for Rookie of the Year.”
Mills, who finished third on the first-year Southern Thunder tour this season behind Dalton Cook and Dillard Hatchett, is the first driver to officially declare intentions to chase WoO’s MD3 Rookie of the Year in 2026. Overall, he recorded five victories, 12 podium finishes and 33 top-10s in 62 Dirt Late Model starts this season. His other Super Late Model wins in 2025 came July 26 in a Southern Thunder sweep of the Alfred Gurley Memorial twin features at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Ala., and Oct. 24’s Coors Light Fall Classic semifeature at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, Miss.
His best career national touring finishes 10th at April’s WoO-sanctioned Alabama Gang 100 at Talladega Short Track.
