Fort Dodge track adds IMCA Late Models
Sports Park Raceway in Fort Dodge, Iowa, has added IMCA-sanctioned Late Models to the weekly card amid a 2026 shift to Sunday racing after operating on Saturdays in 2025 and Fridays the six seasons prior.
Next year’s campaign will mark the first time the half-mile track has hosted a Late Model division since 2017, which was also the last season the track operated Sunday evenings. Charlie McKenna of Ames, Iowa, captured the unsanctioned Late Model championship in 2017.
“We believe it’s time to grow,” track owner and promoter Jeff Frevert said in adopting track-wide IMCA sanctioning for the first time since 2019, “and with IMCA’s strong consistent support and a move to Sunday nights, we’re confident this step will help Sports Park Raceway continue to thrive for years to come.”
Along with Late Models, modifieds, stock cars, sport mods, hobby stocks and sport compacts will be weekly IMCA divisions at the Webster County facility.
The track said it switched to Sundays to reduce conflicts with other racing and entertainment options with hopes of gaining additional competitors and fans. Race programs are scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
