Georgia opens Southern Thunder slate
The second-year Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series today announced a 13-race schedule among a dozen tracks in five states. | Schedule
With the postponement of Saturday’s event at Waycross (Ga.) Motor Speedway, the tour opener is set for Cochran (Ga.) Motor Speedway on April 18 followed by three May events at Georgia ovals in Senoia (May 9), Waycross (a May 15 makeup) and Norman Park at Needmore Speedway (May 16).
A pair of Alabama tracks, Penton Raceway and Eastaboga’s Talladega Short Track, host June 19-20 events with a July 3 event set for Big South Fork Raceway in Huntsville, Tenn.
September events at set for Winder-Barrow Speedway in Winder, Ga. (Sept. 5) and Modoc (S.C.) Raceway (Sept. 19) while a doubleheader weekend is set for Oct. 9-10 at Tuscumbia’s North Alabama Speedway and Thunderhill Raceway in Summertown, Tenn.
The season concludes with Nov. 20-21 events at Southern Raceway in Milton, Fla., the lone track to host multiple tour events.
The series listed Aug. 7-8 dates for races to be announced.
A cold snap postponed Saturday’s Showdown at the Swamp at Waycross, shifting the $7,500-to-win to mid-May.
The Travis Scott-owned series completed 17 events last season with Dalton Cook of Smiths Station, Ala., capturing the title.
