Huset's promoter grabs ARPY honor
Doug Johnson of Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, S.D., and Jackson (Minn.) Motorplex today received Auto Racing Promoter of the Year honors at the RPM Promoters Workshops in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Johnson, who at Huset's previously hosted Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series among other Late Model specials, led the revival of the oval several years ago along with his role at Jackson.
“This is an incredible honor,” said Johnson, a four-time ARPY regional winner. “While this award is extremely special, it truly reflects a team effort. I wouldn’t be standing here without the people who surround me and give me the opportunity to do what I love at the racetrack.
"It is humbling and one of the greatest honors you can receive in our sport. To join the list of outstanding promoters who have earned this award means a great deal to me. I especially want to thank my wife. Racing has been our life, and the track means so much to us. We hope to continue this tradition for many years to come.”
Among regional ARPY award winners at Dirt Late Model-connected tracks also announced: Kolten Gouse of BAPS Motor Speedway in York Haven, Pa.; Matt Curl of Fairbury (Ill.) Speedway; Danny Lorton at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo.; and Michael Parry of New Zealand’s Premier Speedway in Warrnambool.
